Our coffee
For us, the path to delicious coffee begins with the selection of coffee beans, forming the foundation for a unique taste experience. While traditional instant coffee is usually made with poor quality beans, we source exclusively from select highland Arabica beans whose origin and character have proven to be ideal in our testing and development. We focus on both single-origin coffees and carefully balanced coffee blends.
Our exquisite 100% Arabica beans thrive in the sunny highlands of Peru, Honduras, Colombia, and Mexico. Our coffee plants grow in mixed cultures with mango, avocado, and cacao trees. This biodiversity promotes biodiversity and helps control pests naturally. The result: less fertilizer, no nutrient depletion – for more sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation.
For the majority of our coffee range, we source our coffee beans from organic and Fairtrade-certified cooperatives. Together with these partners, we create better living conditions for producers and protect the environment according to strict standards. Our Fairtrade coffee range guarantees social responsibility.
Roasting
Roasting plays a key role in developing the full aroma and unique characteristics of the beans. Our experienced roasting masters precisely tailor the gentle, mild roasting process to the individual flavor profile of our coffee. The result is a harmonious balance of roasted aromas, acidity, and fruity notes that optimally showcases the coffee's subtle nuances. The balanced flavor profile is maintained, and the typical ashy, bitter aftertaste of instant coffee is avoided.
Extraction & Drying
Traditional instant coffee producers tend to over-extract coffee, often under high pressure and high temperature, resulting in an uneven flavor profile. Our extraction process, however, is gentle and low-temperature to ideally release and preserve the aromas. This way, even the finest flavor nuances are revealed. After the best of the beans have been extracted, the coffee essence is freeze-dried. This process flash-frozen the coffee essence and gently removes the water. The result is delicious BLÆK Coffee.
